Q. What is Christmas on Ice?

A. 7UP Christmas on Ice is a festive extravaganza, consisting of festive fun andentertainment for all ages. The venue hosts Ireland's only City Centre rink in Cork City and is contained within the walls of the 17th Century Elizabeth Fort.

Other features include Family Fun Weekends, Skate Camp, Decks on Ice, Skate and Donate, Corporate Events, Birthdays on Ice, and School Skate Programmes.

Q: Where is the event taking place?

A: The Elizabeth Fort on Barrack Street.

Q: How do I get there and where do I park?

A: The Elizabeth Fort Ice Rink is a two minute walk from Patrick Street in the heart of Cork City and is easily accessibly by foot or car.

On Foot

From Patrick Street, continue left on to Grand Parade for approx. 100M. Take a right on Tuckey Streeimmediately after Bishop Lucey Park. Take the first left onto South Main Street. Continue over South Gate Bridge, at the traffic lights cross over Frenches Quay, turn right and then immediately left on Kaiser Lane the steps leading directly to Elizabeth Fort.

By Car:

Drop-off and pick-up on Frenches Quay, immediately West of the South Gate Bridge, with steps leading up to Elizabeth Fort..

Parking

Public street parking isles than 5 minutes from the Rink: St. Finbarre's Car Park, City Car Park Grand Parade Car Park.

Q: When will the ice rink be open and at what times?

A: 7UP Christmas on Ice, Cork-Barrack Street, in Elizabeth Fort is open from 27th November 2009 to 17th January 2010.

Ice Skating sessions running from 09.30am - 22.30pm (Fri, Sat & Sun) and 10.50am to 21.10pm (Mon - Thurs).

Note the following exceptions to opening times for the holidays

25 Dec Closed all day
26 Dec 12.10pm - 22.30pm
31 Dec 9.30am - 17.10pm
1 Jan 12.10pm - 22.30pm

Q: Who is organising the event?

A: The event is organised by One Event Management & Promotions, Ltd. on behalf of Elizabeth Fort Heritage, in partnership An Garda Siochana. A portion of all ice skating profits are donated to Elizabeth Fort Heritage, registered charity promoting cultural development in Elizabeth Fort and the surrounding precinct.  www.elizabethfort.com

Q: Where can I buy a ticket?

A: Tickets can be purchased at the box office in Elizabeth Fort on Barrack Street, online at www.7upchristmasonice.ie or by calling the Iceline on 0818 717 200. Tickets can also be purchased from Ticketmaster.

Q: Can I go along and pay on the day?

A: Yes, tickets will be on sale at the Elizabeth Fort Barrack Street Box Office, from Nov 25th. We recommend advance bookings to avoid disappointment. 

Q: How long do skating sessions last?

A: Each skating session lasts one hour.

Q: What if I only want to accompany my child who is skating?

A: Adult spectators accompanying children are free of charge and welcome to grab a hot drink or soup in the Ice Cafe where you can watch your children skate rink-side or warm up and watch through the glass of the cafe.

Q: How can group bookings of 10+ be made?

A: Group bookings can be made by calling 021 431 9290 or emailing skate@elizabethfort.com

Q: Will actual tickets be sent out?

A: Tickets that are booked through Ticketmaster will be issued and mailed 2/3 weeks before the event. Tickets booked on www.7upchristmasonice.ie website will be mailed for bookings made before November 1st.

Reservations made after November 1st can pick up tickets at the box office. Reservation confirmation number will be required (this information will be sent by email after booking).

Group bookings will be issued tickets by One Event Management & Promotions. Tickets will only be issued on receipt of full payment. School bookings will not receive tickets, however they will receive a booking letter on receipt of confirmation, which will include a reference number.

Q: Can booked sessions be changed?

A: No, it is not possible to transfer sessions once they are booked.

Q: Are deposits refundable?

A: Deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations will lose their deposit. This policy is in place, as it must be appreciated that labour and entertainment must be booked for and paid for in advance.

Q: What happens if sessions are cancelled?

A: If any sessions are cancelled, ticket-holders will be accommodated at alternative sessions.

Q: What about visitors with special needs?

A: Wheelchair access is available on-site. Please call our office before your visit, and this will enable us to accommodate you at the rink when you visit. Tel. 021 431 9290.

Q: What about the Irish weather?

A: 7UP Christmas on Ice event is undercover! The walls of the medieval Elizabeth Fort and the marquee covering the rink provide ample protection from the elements. Aside from intense storms, we will always be open for your enjoyment.

Q: I haven't skated before - what if I fall?

A: Ice Marshals also patrol the ice to help people. In the event of an accident first-aid facilities are on-site and A&E facilities are within 5 minutes of Elizabeth Fort, on Barrack Street.

Q: If I don't want to skate what can I do?

A: A number of 'Apres Skate' options are available such as the Ice Cafe and ice-viewing areas where you can enjoy hot drinks and light snacks.

Q: What about food and drink at 7UP Christmas on Ice?

A: Refreshments include hot chocolate, chocolate volcanoes, gourmet fair trade coffee, tea, delicious eats & treats, organic soup from the Quay Co-op, sandwiches, soft drinks and so much more - available in the heated Ice Cafe.


Q: What about toilet facilities?

A: Yes.

Q: What about baby-changing facilities?

A: Yes

Q: Will there be a cloakroom on site?

A: Yes.

Q: Are there any clothing restrictions?

A: Gloves are highly recommended and an extra pair of socks for skaters is also a good idea!

Q: Do you have insurance?

A: The event enforces a detailed Health & Safety Plan to ensure all safety regulations are met whilst providing for public comfort especially during busy times. The rink operators have public liability insurance, in the event of an injury occurring as a result of faulty operations. However, it is important to note that the use of the ice skating rink and all its facilities are totally at the users own risk. No responsibility is accepted or undertaken for the well being of either the user or their property.
